The RUT (Unique Taxes Registry) is an identifier number, similar as the Passport Number. Every Chilean, and expat living in Chile has one, this allows you to pay taxes and sign formal legal contracts, like buy a car and register it under your name.
You have two options to get it:
- In Chile: Start the process once you’re in Chile with our help. We will ask for your information to begin the paperwork, and you’ll need to go to a notary to sign a document. The process takes 3-5 business days to be completed. Cost: 70,000 CLP.

We will ask for your information to begin the paperwork, and you will need to book an appointment at the Chilean consulate in your country to sign a document. The process takes 1-2 weeks. Cost: 90,000 CLP.

Once you have your RUT, you will be able to legally purchase the vehicle you want.
#2 – Buying a vehicle

If you decide to purchase a vehicle from our catalog, our assistance is free for the buyer. We will accompany you to the notary to complete the transfer and assist with the necessary paperwork to ensure you can cross borders and drive the vehicle without any issues. We will also explain all the mandatory documents you need to have in your vehicle. Please note that you will still need to pay the notary fees and vehicle taxes to the tax office. It will cost around 80,000 CLP plus 1.5% of the vehicle’s value.
- From others: If none of the options that we have is what you’re looking for, we can help you to find the correct vehicle for you. You can start searching at local websites as YAPO.CL, CHILEAUTOS.CL or MARKETPLACE from facebook. We can assist you with the transfer at the notary and ensure that all the vehicle’s documents are up to date, including checking for any unpaid fines or previous accidents. We also coordinate the sale and powers of attorney with the buyer. Service fee: 150,000 CLP.
Please note that you will still need to pay the notary fees and vehicle taxes to the tax office. It will cost around 80,000 CLP plus 1.5% of the vehicle’s value.
Congratulations! You’re ready to start your journey. You only need your **padrón** (title), which certifies that the vehicle is legally yours. It usually takes around 6 weeks to be ready. But don’t worry! If you buy a vehicle with our assistance, you’ll be able to cross borders immediately after signing the purchase contract, even if the title transfer process isn’t fully completed.
#3 – On road assistance
At this point, you will be on the road with your own vehicle. If you bought a car from us, or if we camperized it, you will be able to access our “on-road assistance”. We will provide you with the best tips, advice, routes, hotspots, and all the useful information to make the most of your adventure. We will do our best to connect you with camping sites, mechanics, good parking spots, and answer all your questions.
